Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN)

My Education in Integrative Health Coaching

The Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) was founded in New York in 1992 and has grown into an international institution specialising in health coaching education.

My education at IIN began with the comprehensive 432-hour Health Coach Training Program, covering nutrition, lifestyle, behaviour change, coaching techniques and the many factors that influence our physical and emotional well-being.

What attracted me to integrative health coaching was the understanding that health is not simply about what we eat or how much we exercise. Stress, sleep, relationships, our environment and everyday habits all play a role.

But understanding what is good for our health is one thing. Making those changes in your life is often much more difficult.

That is where health coaching comes in.

From Health Knowledge to Professional Coaching

After completing my initial training, I continued with IIN’s professional coaching education, including the Coaching Intensive Practicum, an NBHWC-approved program.

This training focuses on the practical skills of health coaching: listening, asking meaningful questions, understanding behaviour and supporting people in discovering their own solutions.

The practicum also provides an educational pathway towards eligibility for the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) certification examination in the United States.

Specialising in Gut Health, Hormone Health & Nutrition

I continued my education with additional courses in Gut Health, Hormone Health and Detox Your Life, expanding my knowledge of nutrition, digestion, hormonal health and the body’s natural processes of detoxification.

These subjects are closely connected to my existing background in breathing therapy, remedial yoga and stress management.

Our digestive system, hormones, nervous system and daily habits influence one another. Understanding these connections helps me approach health coaching from a broader perspective.

Bringing My Education Together

In March 2026, I received my professional recognition certificate as a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.

Today, I combine this education with my previous years of training and experience in remedial yoga, breathing therapy and meditation.

My role is not to diagnose or treat medical conditions, but to support people in understanding their habits, exploring what may be holding them back and finding practical ways to make lifestyle changes.

This also allows me to work alongside the recommendations of doctors, dietitians and other healthcare professionals.

Below you can explore my certificates and the different areas of my professional education.

Saswitha School of Yoga and Philosophy

The Netherlands

Five Years of Yoga Studies & Specialised Training

Founded in 1947, Saswitha was one of the oldest and most established institutions for professional yoga education in the Netherlands.

For more than 75 years, the school played an important role in Dutch yoga education, offering extensive training rooted in classical Hatha Yoga, Eastern philosophy and the connection between body, breath and consciousness.

Unlike short yoga teacher training courses, Saswitha offered a multi-year professional education, allowing students to develop their knowledge, practical skills and personal understanding of yoga over time.

My Education at Saswitha

I spent five years studying at Saswitha, exploring yoga far beyond physical postures.

My education included yoga philosophy, anatomy, meditation, breathing techniques, Ayurvedic principles and specialised training in adapting yoga for people with different physical needs and abilities.

Two areas became particularly important in my professional development:

Breathing Therapy

Understanding the relationship between breathing, the nervous system, emotions and consciousness, and exploring how breathing techniques can support relaxation and awareness.

Yoga for Specific Groups

Adapting movement, breathing and relaxation exercises for people with different physical abilities and individual needs.

From Yoga to Integrative Health Coaching

This education became the foundation of my work in remedial yoga and breathing therapy.

Years later, when I continued my education at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), I recognised many of the same principles: understanding the individual as a whole, recognising the connection between physical and emotional well-being, and supporting people in developing greater awareness of their own bodies.

Today, I bring these two educational backgrounds together in my work at KoKo To Vision.
